A new day

A couple of months ago I posted about how we were going to lose a day of our lives. See here…

I got several comments about people flying from Australia and how you arrive at your destination before you ever really left. It’s pretty cool to experience.

Here is why I think our experience here is even cooler than flying over the international date line. First of all, we didn’t move. Today it is Thursday 29th December. When we wake up tomorrow, it will be Saturday 31st December. We lose a day of our lives while we are sleeping. We didn’t fly anywhere or travel anywhere, it’s just that at midnight, the international date line was moved from being to the west of Samoa, to now being on the east. It’s not like a date line moving is a very common thing, and it’s pretty awesome that we were here to experience it! Ha! Now, that’s something to blog about!

  1. That is so crazy!

  2. Will you get your day back when you return to the States?

    • We get it back when we go back to American Samoa. We have Monday 2nd Jan here on vacation, fly back on Tues 3rd, but arrive in American Samoa on Monday 2nd and get to live it again!
