Sealing anniversary

January 29th is a very special day in our family. It is the anniversary of the day that we were sealed together as an eternal family in the temple. Every year on our anniversary, we take our family out for dinner and to the temple. We talk about the importance of temples, the priesthood, families, and covenants. (Click on any of those words to learn more)

Here are some photos from that day 8 years ago!

First things first, we needed to have the adoptions finalized at court. Our social worker Sandy, our attorney Steve, Judge Hansen, Nanna and Grandpa all attended.

This is our first photograph as an eternal family 🙂

These are our family members who came to the temple with us. Nanna, Grandma, Grandpa, Grandma and Grandpa Shumway, Grandpa Roldo, and Aunt Emily and Uncle Ryan.

A friend made this beautiful cushion. I LOVE it.

These are the men who stood in the Priesthood circle to give Matthew and Benjamin a name and a blessing. Dad, Grandpa, Grandpa Shumway, Grandpa Roldo, Uncle Ryan and Bishop Taylor.

And…since we’re taking a trip down memory lane, here are the pictures of our family over the last 8 years at the temple on the anniversary of our sealing.

January 29th 2005. Fresno, California. Two cute toddlers and Hannah due in 2 months.

January 29th 2006. Salt Lake City, Utah. Three cute kids and Daniel 4 months away.

January 29th 2007. Salt Lake City, Utah. Four cute kids. We had our hands full this year!

January 29th 2008. Salt Lake City, Utah. Even in the snow storm, we made it to the temple. We love our family tradition.

January 29th 2009. Draper, Utah open house with newborn Mary.

January 29th 2010. Bountiful Utah. I was 3 weeks away from giving birth to Emma. It was freezing cold, and there was no one in sight to take a family photo. Michael took this one of the rest of us.

January 29th 2011. Salt Lake City, Utah. Six wonderful children at our favorite place.

And here we are at the Apia, Samoa temple in December. A few weeks off from our actual sealing date, but this was the best we could do with a temple being so far away now.

I love celebrating our sealing day and remembering the experiences that we have had in the temple. We are so blessed.

Here are the lyrics to our favorite song which we always sing to our kids at bedtime…

I love to see the temple. I’ll go inside some day.

I’ll covenant with my Father; I’ll promise to obey.

For the temple is a holy place where we are sealed together.

As a child of God, I’ve learned this truth: A family is forever.
