NOAA field trip

Here’s an old one that I haven’t posted yet!

NOAA = National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

A while ago, Matthew and Benjamin went on a cool field trip with school. Students in grades 3-8 had the opportunity to tour the NOAA research vessel, the Hi’ialakai while it was in port in Pago Pago.  The Hi’ialakai is one of the leading research vessels in the South Pacific. The students saw the labs, the navigation room, the living quarters, and all the scientific equipment the scientists use to survey ocean life in the Pacific. They learned exactly what a marine scientist does as well as learning about the vessel and its operation. They LOVED it! I need to start thinking of some cool field trips that I can do for home school. Any ideas?
