Cultural museum field trip

Carved trees, colorful artwork, old cannons and anchors, stuffed birds of Samoa, traditional costumes and headdresses, shells, tapas, musical instruments, boats, sea life, local plants, and canoes. The Jean P. Haydon Museum has it all!

The tiny two-room museum in Fagatogo is free to get in, and takes about 20 minutes to go around. Perfect for my small children. We had a great time on our field trip there last month. One of the most interesting exhibits is a small American Samoa flag and three moon stones gifted to the American Samoa Government by President Richard Nixon following the return of one of the Apollo moon missions. The flag was carried to the moon by one of the astronauts.

I just love so much going out and doing fun things with my kids. I am having a blast with them!

  1. Looks like a cool place! And only taking 20 minutes to get through it….that sounds like my kind of museum!!!
