Snorkeling field trip

Lots of things happen on this island because of who you know, and if you don’t know anybody, you’re out of luck! We had a great time in August with some friends (click here) who took us to their private family beach on the other side of the island. This is my post subtitled, “It’s all who you know, Part 2”!

Last week, I had a wonderful friend (member of the same family) who offered to take my kids out on a home school snorkeling field trip. How awesome is that? I wasn’t sure how long the little girls would last, but three hours later we all came home exhausted but happy (and very sunburned too)

My friend Lana took the older kids and showed them so many cool things including sea urchins, goat fish, stick fish, eels, “fish bigger than Mom’s head”, “the fish that bit Mom”, lots of starfish, a crown of thorns, and even a shipwreck (fishing boat wreck to be more accurate!) Hannah even learned how to squirt a sea cucumber like a water gun! I LOVE living in such a cool place. I LOVE home schooling and having this opportunity to teach my kids in a different manner, and I LOVE having friends who help me do these things. Here are some photos of the morning…
